Program Description

The MS (by Research) and PhD in Music and Musopathy programs at IIT Mandi aim to produce highly skilled professionals and researchers who can meaningfully contribute to the development and understanding of Musopathy, while also deepening and widening their knowledge and skills in Music and its applications in modern society. These programs provide a robust grounding in the foundational, intermediate, and advanced aspects of Music and Musopathy, coupled with additional insights from the Indian Knowledge System and Mental Health Applications Centre (IKSMHA Centre).

Eligibility

  • As per MS and Ph.D. admissions Ordinances.
  • Traditional degrees from recognized universities (e.g., Acharya) are considered equivalent to bachelor's and master's degrees in engineering, sciences, arts, and social sciences.
  • Degrees from accredited music institutions such as Kalakshetra, Chennai, Gandharva Maha Vidyalaya, Delhi, Chennai Govt Music College etc. after 3 years of Music Education.
  • Additional requirements may be imposed by the committee as needed, including:
    • Acharyanet and other certifications after 2/3 years of study
    • All India Radio ratings for performing artists
